SILK PAINTING The art of hand painted batik silk painting came from Southeast Asia. Today, hand painted silk is one of the most popular materials among leading fashion designers and exclusive interiors designers. This technique gives professionals and amateurs of handmade a possibility to create real handmade masterpieces. The gloss and softness of flowing silk make the painting vivid, filling it with the light and making it play of all color tints. VARIETY OF TECHNIQUES OF PAINTING ON SILK.
There are several techniques of painting on silk, the most common among them are painting with outliner (‘cold batik’) and freehand painting. ‘Cold batik’ is done by the method of cold reserving when special composition (outliner) is applied to textile in advance to prevent penetration of colors into the fibers of textile and their spreading. More often it is used for outline drawing. The technique of freehand painting is close to watercolor painting and requires skills in brush drawing without under drawing. It displays creative style and talent of the artist. Colors are applied to textile with wide brush strokes without using an outliner.
GENERAL PRINCIPLES OF SILK PAINTING "COLD BATIK" Before painting textile needs washing and ironing and outline drawing should be done. Then silk should be stretched and fixed on a stretcher. Apply an outliner to a drawing and let it dry. Fill the space inside with colors. After full drying of the colors fix the drawing with a hot iron. For deleting the washable outliner, the finished painting needs washing.
DECOLA SILK COLOUR LOOSE SHADES (MADE IN RUSSIA)
Acrylic colours "Decola" are applied for painting onto different surfaces, they don't crack and strongly keep not only on solid materials, like cardboard or wood, but also on flexible: cloth, leather, paper, ceramic and etc. After drying this type of colors forms up an elastic and bright coating. Colours are produced on a basis of water-acrylic dispersion that perfectly can be mixed with each other. High concentration of pigment provides excellent covering properties.
Color palette of acrylic colours "Decola" has a variety of colors which always keeps widening, including metallic, fluorescent, pearl and interfering colours.

DECOLA ACRYLIC BATIK PAINT- 6 x 50 ML
Batik paints from the “Decola” series of the “Nevskaya Palitra” are intended for decoration of natural and synthetic fibers – cotton, linen, silk and more.
In addition to full dyeing, batik paints can be used to paint or decorate accents using templates or stamps. When textile dyes are used to create separate decorative elements, the borders of the image should be outlined with contour lines to prevent the colors from blending and overflowing. Batik paints are dried overnight, then fixed for 5 minutes with an iron at a temperature consistent with the requirements of the material used. Batik woven fabrics can then be washed by hand or in a 30-degree washing machine.
Decola Batik paints are available in 6 colors, in 50 ml plastic jars. The colors included in the set for natural and synthetic fabrics are yellow, orange, green, blue, red and black. In addition, there are two 18 ml contours in the kit.
DECOLA TEXTILE PAINT SET (MADE IN RUSSIA)
Fabric paints based on aqueous acrylic dispersion are used for painting cotton and silk fabrics. When painting synthetic fabrics, it is recommended to verify the strength of the pattern on the fabric sample in accordance with the instructions for use. Stir thoroughly before use. Brush the paint with a thin and even layer. To dilute paints in order to reduce the colour intensity and improve the spreading of paints, use the special Decola thinner. After applying the drawing, let it dry for 24 hours and after that it is advisable to fix it by ironing without steam. Further, you can wash the product at a temperature of 30C-40C without strong mechanical stress. Store paint in a tightly closed container. Wash brushes and tools immediately after use with water.

Just like the pencils you can use the blocks dry but they come into their own when you mix them with water and the colour turns into vibrant ink. Once dry the colour is permanent and you can work over the top of it. Also ideal for using on silk and cotton!
